【摘要】:Shippingcontainersareexposedtocomplexdynamicstressesinthedistributionenvironment.Approximatingtheactualdamage,orlackofdamage,experiencedinreallifemayrequiresubjectingthecontaineranditscontentstorandomvibrationtests.Inthisway,manyproductandcontainerresonancesaresimultaneouslyexcited.Resonancebuildupsduringrandomvibrationtestsarelessintensethanduringsinusoidalresonancedwellorsweeptests.Therefore,unrealisticfatiguedamageduetoresonancebuildupisminimized.Randomvibrationtestsshouldbebasedonrepresentativefielddata.Whenpossible,confidencelevelsmaybeimprovedbycomparinglaboratorytestresultswithactualfieldshipmenteffects.RefertoPracticeD4169forrecommendedrandomvibrationtests.(SeeAppendixX1andAppendixX2forrelatedinformation.)Thereisnodirectequivalencebetweenrandomvibrationtestsandsinusoidalvibrationtests.Equivalenttestsbetweensineandrandom,inageneralsense,aredifficulttoestablishduetononlinearities,dampingandproductresponsecharacteristics.Vibrationexposureaffectstheshippingcontainer,itsinteriorpacking,meansofclosure,andcontents.Thistestallowsanalysisoftheinteractionbetweenthesecomponents.Designmodificationtooneorallofthesecomponentsmaybeusedtoachieveoptimumperformanceintheshippingenvironment.Randomvibrationtestsmaybesimultaneouslyperformedwithtransientorperiodicdatatosimulateknownstressesofthistype,thatis,railjoints,potholes,etc.Randomvibrationmaybeconductedinanyaxis(verticalorhorizontal)orinanypackageorientation.However,differenttestlevelsmaybeutilizedforeachaxisdependingonthefieldenvironmentthatistobesimulated.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstherandomvibrationtestingoffilledshippingunits.Suchtestsmaybeusedtoassesstheperformanceofacontainerwithitsinteriorpackingandmeansofclosureintermsofitsruggednessandtheprotectionthatitprovidesthecontentswhensubjectedtorandomvibrationinputs.1.2Thistestmethodprovidesguidanceinthedevelopmentanduseofvibrationdatainthetestingofshippingcontainers.Note1SourcesofsupplementaryinformationarelistedintheReferencesection(1-10).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificsafetyhazardstatementsaregiveninSection.
